The Gallery includes images of the borough's streets and buildings and portraits of people and communities. The Digital Gallery images are displayed as thumbnails. Full size images can be viewed by clicking on a thumbnail.
How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Charlotte Jarvis 1910s
Charlotte Jarvis nee Abott, (1874-1943). Charlotte came from Birmingham as a young woman and worked in the hinge factory in Westferry Road (opposite the end of Tooke Street). She married a man who worked for the Electric Light Company in Glengall Road (now Tiller Road) and they lived at 63 Alpha Road - at the other end of Tooke Street. Charlotte is pictured here with Percy, (born 1904) and Mary, later Haben (born 1911). There were five more boys. All the children went to St. Luke's School. From Mrs Mary Haben
