Plevna Street 1950s
Brian Mills ('Ginger'), with rabbit; Derek (‘Dell') Downey and Ray Fitzearle and the family dog, Paddy. This photograph was taken in the garden of a Plevna Street prefab in 1950. Behind the boys is a trellis arch overgrown with roses and honeysuckle. To the right is the corrugated coal shed - this was used as a playhouse for the children, and the wooden addition was used for storing coal. Brian and Ray became barge-builders when they grew up, and Derek became a plater/ welder. From Buddie Penn
