On the left, Arthur Thurgar, No. 2 Tooke Street, Isle of Dogs, born 1880, died after the Second World War. Arthur joined the Royal Navy at the age of 17, in 1897, and witnessed the Boxer Rebellion in China; he served on the Agamemnon in the Dardinelles. He left the Navy in the 1920s and became a school-keeper in Notting Hill Gate. From G. Thurgar
