Second World War. Gun site on the Mudchute. The barracks which was built below the bank between the gun site and Stebondale Street. THere were double bunks and a coal fired stove. Cooking and eating was done in the cookhouse. Social life for the soldiers included dances on the Mudchute and in the Public Baths, at Builders Arms. Or over in Canning Town or the Queens Theatre in Poplar High Street. by Mr Philips
