Cutler’s Yard Westferry Road 1930s
Sam Kinchin and his sister Marie, Sunday afternoon, 1930s, in Cutler’s yard. Marie says: ‘I can remember the glare of the sun in my eyes so uncle Dan was trying to create some shade with the aid of his hat - not very successfully.’ Dan Kinchin, Marie’s uncle, was the caretaker at Cutler’s, and her father, Sam, was the crane driver. Dan Kinchin lived on the premises with his wife and two children, Kitty and Ellen; The four cousins used to play together a lot, often in the works yard. by Mave Vincent
