Daisy Thomas 1910s
Daisy Thomas (later Clayden), daughter of Mabel (nee Tillson) and Ernest Thamas (stevedore) of Plevna Street, in 1916, aged 15. This photograph was taken at Whiffin's in East India Dock Road, through a photograph club which Daisy belonged to at Vanesta's, where she worked (a plywood factory in Westferry Road near Burrell's Wharf). Daisy is wearing a black and white check dress (black in mourning for her grandfather) which was made for her by her aunt Aggie, who taught Daisy dress-making. The watch Daisy is wearing had been bought second hand from Jo Squires, the pawnbroker. by Mrs D. Clayden
