Stebondale Street 1920s
Mr Koch in his grocery and general provision store in Stebondale Street, Isle of Dogs, c1920. This was the first shop round the corner from Manchester Road; on the corner itself was Jarvis's, the wholesale and retail tobacconists; next to Jarvis's side entrance was ‘Old Koch's' as the shop was known. In the 1920s, Mr Koch was attacked and robbed in his shop - a crime which was much talked about because it was such an extraordinary event in Island life. by Mr J. Needham
