How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at email@example.com
Stewart Street 1920s
George Warren, (b.1913) at No. 28 Stewart Street; one of six children, his father worked in the dry dock. He is with Ernest Simpson, also of Stewart Street. The boys went to Glengall Road School, where his name was inscribed on a board for excellence at swimming (he could swim across the river). George's first job was probably at Mortons in Cubitt Town. Later he worked in the dry dock and eventually became a stevedore in the Millwall Docks. He married Daisy Kirby, also of Stewart Street. by G. Warren
