Island History Trust Image Collection
David John Jordan, b. 10.4.49, outside his family home at No. 71 Glengall Grove. This was one of the Island's old-style ‘airy' houses, built on three storeys, dating from the mid-nineteenth century. By the 1940s the houses were very dilapidated - Mrs Jordan recalls “We had fungus coming up through the floor boards.' The family was re-housed in new council property in Glengall Grove in the 1960s.
