Manchester Road 1950s
Looking northwards from the roof of ‘The Queen' pub, Manchester Road, Isle of Dogs. 1950s. In this photograph we can see the end of Glen Terrace on the right, in the centre background is the “old” bridge across the lock entrance to the South West India Dock (pre 1970) and to the right, the houses built on the dry docks which had been filled in near the lock entrance. During the redevelopment of the late 20th century, these houses were replaced with high-rise apartment blocks. The Queen was also replaced with a restaurant at this time. by Olive Campbell
