How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at email@example.com
Newmarket Cambs 1920s
Mr George Wright of Cahir Steet, with lorry driver, Mr Fred Abbot, of Marshfield, Cubitt Town. This photograph was taken at Newmarket in 1927, en route from Bungay, Suffolk, with 12 tons of malt for Watneys Brewery at Mortlake. The lorry belonged to J. W. Cook at Millwall Wharf. Wages in the 1920s were never more than £3. for a full working week, starting at 7pm on Sundays. by Mr Phillips
