Pier Tavern Cubitt Town 1950s

Image Number:

Island History Trust Image Collection

1950s. Mrs Ada Fennings and her sister Mrs Susannah Ruggles. Thought to be taken outside The Pier Tavern, ready to go on a beano. These two were “always together, they used to have a laugh.” They lived opposite each other in No. 133 and No. 120 Manchester Road. When they were re-housed (Mrs Fennings to Poplar and Mrs Ruggles to the Samuda Estate) they did not see so much of each other. by Rose Rayner
