How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at email@example.com
Millwall Central School 1910s
Millwall Central School, second year girls in the spring term 1918. Back row left to right: third, Amy Griffiths, fifth, Vera Clark, sixth, - Hunt. Second row: fourth, Miss Dark (Form Mistress), fifth domestic teacher, sixth, Minnie Dance, seventh Mary Jeffrey, eighth, Eileen Farrell, ninth, Sylvia Grain. Front row: first, Florence le Fort, seventh, Doris Hubert. The two women in white overalls at either end of the third row were domestic teachers. They had a small house in the school playground which was used for housewifery lessons, one term cookery, one term for laundry and one for housewifery. Mrs Saunders says, “of all my years of education my happiest memories are of the four years spent at Millwall Central. At the end of the year Miss Bolton, my form mistress, gave me a ‘Palgrave's Golden Treasury' which I still have at my bedside.” by Mrs Eileen Saunders
