How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Workers and owners at Peckhams, the builders, of Pier Street, Isle of Dogs, raedy to go on their annual outing, late 1930s. Among the children are: Ernest Peckham, Graham Clark, Alan Clark, Yvonne Peckham and Dorothy Peckham. Among the men are, back row: George Jackson, Jim Boy, Frank Peckham, Leslie - , Charles Hayward. Middle row: Alan Ruane, Clifford Theobald, Charlie Wright, Harry Wright, Bert Fuller and Sandy White. In front: George Fuller, Charlie West (landlord of ‘The Pier Tavern' ), Ernest Peckham, Harold Clark, Jack Peckham, Bill Slade, George Bowditch and Bert Johnson. The outing was a big event in Pier Street. Some of the workers came in fancy dress; children gathered round for pennies ('mouldies) to be thrown at them from the coach.
