The McIntosh family in Aberdeen in 1916. On the left is Florence who was born at No. 22 Manchester Road, on the Isle of Dogs, on 2nd July 1903. Standing at the back are Charlie, Bella and Joe - all in uniform. These three children were with their father, Danny (seated), when he dived into the Thames off Tower Bridge to rescue a child who had fallen into the river. Danny who was 27 at the time had moved to the Island from his native Aberdeen to work as an engineer at the Millwall factory of Maconochie Brothers. The family returned to Aberdeen shortly after the birth of their fourth child, Florence. There were nine children altogether and their descendants were to be found in England Scotland, Wales and Canada by the 1990s. Donated by George Hutchinson (son of Florence)
