How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at localhistory@towerhamlets.gov.uk

Description:
Wedding of Maud Potter, aged 20 and Thomas Burgess aged 20 on the 14th July 1918 at No 56 Alpha Road, Millwall. Maud was born at No 56 Alph Road and died in 1988. Thomas was born and lived at Grundy Street Poplar. He died in 1976. The photograph has the Lloyd Loom warehouse in the background. To the right was Kelloggs Corn Flake factory (more likely the puffed wheat factory. E.H.). Thomas became a tally clerk in the docks. The family moved away in 1936 to open a ‘Baby and Wool' shop in Penge, which flourished. Donated by Mrs Nisbet
