Mrs Donovan (on left) with Mrs Wilson. Mrs Donovan lived downstairs at 10 Alpha Grove (pictured) and Mrs Wilson lived upstairs. The two families shared the toilet, the wash-house and the air-raid shelter. All seven of Mrs Donovan’s children were born in that house and the family lived there from 1916 until 1942, when they moved to Manilla Street and had a whole house to themselves. They stayed there until 1965 when they moved out into Essex. Mrs Wilson and her daughter occupied the whole of No.10 until it was pulled down, also in the 1960s. Donated by Mrs M. Wood
