How do I obtain a copy of an image?

Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at localhistory@towerhamlets.gov.uk

Glengall Road School, 1950. Teacher Mr E. R. Braithwaite. Mr Braithwaite came from British Guyana (now Guyana) He later wrote books, including “To Sir With Love”, which was made into a film starring Sidney Poitier as the school teacher. Also in the photo: Front row, from left, 3rd Jean Verlander, 4th Grace Clarke, 9th Barbara Elms, 10th Hilda Woodard. Back row from left: 4th - Jeffery, 6th Jean Hardie, later Solly. 7th - King. Jean added: Hilda Woodard is my cousin, her father was Charles Woodard. My mother was Alice Hardie, nee Woodard. We lived in a prefab at 105 Mellish Street. Donated by Jean Solly
