The Gallery includes images of the borough's streets and buildings and portraits of people and communities. The Digital Gallery images are displayed as thumbnails. Full size images can be viewed by clicking on a thumbnail.
How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Eastern and Central Granaries in the distance, cranes in South West India dock beyond. Kingfield Street and Seysell Street in mid-foreground. White building on present site of Mudchute stables was a factory, beyond it another factory which stood alongside Glengall Road School. Ruins in Seysell Street were demolished to make way for Salford House. Prefabs standing on what is now garden of St. Luke’s School (previously Cubitt Town School). There had been prefabs opposite, these had been cleared to make way for new housing. (The bomb that destroyed Cubitt Town School also damaged houses in Manchester Road, parsonage and Bilson Streets.)
