How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at email@example.com
West India Dock, looking westwards from the lock and Blue Brige entrance, a photo taken by George Charnley, who was lock foreman here in the 1950s and 1960s, and lived with his family in Mellish STree,t London E14. Where cranes are, centre background, was later Heron Quays, at that time the site of F, G and H transit sheds. On extreme left is site of DLR South Quay station (approx.) Far end of dock, faintly visible, the old Morton’s confectionery factory, later the site of Cascades apartments. Donated by Janice Craft
