St. Edmund's Church 1920s
Procession from St. Edmund's Roman Catholic Church, Millwall, Isle of Dogs, passing the Methodist Chapel in Alpha Road, possibly early 1920s. In front, bottom right, holding a shawl over her arm, Mrs Sarah Claydon, of Claude Street, and with her is her neighbour, Mrs Mulchinoch. Also in the picture is Mrs Ester. The procession which was an annual event, was led by a band and ended with a Mass in the church. Girls wore white dresses, with different coloured sashes.
