Welwyn Garden City 1920s
Friends and relations from Millwall visiting men from Cutler’s Steel Works at Welwyn Garden City where they were erecting gas holders. The men lived in wooden huts on the site. This work was done in the 1920s and Cutler’s also put up two big gas holders at Becton. In this photograph, left to right: Mrs Till Cox, Mrs Lizzie Thomson, (whose husband David was outside manager for Cutlers), Mrs Sophie Anderson, Harry Anderson, (behind the flowers), Kate Camm and her husband and Fred Cox, wearing school cap. Cox boys in front. These families lived in Westferry Road near the Scotch church, or in Crews Street. From Dot Bennett
