Idea Store Watney Market Coming Soon

Idea Store Watney Market will be the first of the new generation of Idea Stores to bring library services together with multi-agency information services and a 'One Stop Shop',  offering benefits to the local community in the areas of health and employment. 

The new Idea Store will be open in 2012.

Funding
The Idea Store Service has secured a financial contribution of £2 million from the Big Lottery Fund towards the overall capital cost of the scheme. The rest of the funding will be met by the Council. 

Facilities
The  following facilities are planned for Idea Store Watney Market:

  • Adult and children’s library – featuring a wide range of stock including best-selling books, CDs and DVDs.
  • Surfing space providing free public Internet access.
  • Learning activities for all ages and day, evening and weekend courses for a range of interests and abilities. 
  • Health advice and information services.
  • 'One Stop Shop' offering face-to-face contact, information and support with accessing all of the Council's services.
  • 'Single Access Point', free advice on training, upgrading skills and job applications.
  • Information - access to extensive reference and information sources including online resources and a local studies and archives collection.
  • Meeting and activity space for community groups
