Carol Ann Duffy
Carol Ann Duffy was born on 23 December 1955 in Glasgow and accepted the position of Poets Laureate in 2009.
Carol Ann Duffy's career spans being an editor of Ambit, poetry magazine, a lecturer of poetry at Manchester Metropolitan University and of course an acclaimed poet, playwright and author.
Carol Ann Duffy pens poems for children, teenagers and adults alike which have have earned her but a few awards including; T. S. Eliot Prize, Whitbread Poetry Award and the forward Poetry Prize. An OBE was accepted by her in 1995 and a CBE in 2001. The year of 1999 saw her become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
Currently, Carol Ann Duffy is the Creative Director of the Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University.
