How do I obtain a copy of an image?

Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at

Bill Haben, born 1901 in Havannah Street, E14 and died in 1975. Married Mary Jarvis from Alpha Road. He was an engineer- fitter by trade and worked at Lusty’s, in Bromley-by-Bow. When this firm closed down during the Second World War, he went round putting up Anderson shelters for a while, then got a job at Green Siley Weir, in the Surrey Docks. He retired in 1969, when the Surrey Docks closed down. From Mrs M.Haben
