The Gallery includes images of the borough's streets and buildings and portraits of people and communities. The Digital Gallery images are displayed as thumbnails. Full size images can be viewed by clicking on a thumbnail.
How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org

Back row: George Cannon, Bill Margetts, Ada Cannon (nee Margetts, wife of George), Margaret (Mag) Margetts, wife of Bill; Kate Hardy, Mary Chamberlain, Rene Margetts. Front: Joan Margetts, Bill Barry, Nell Margetts (later Leather), Ron Hardy, Maureen Hardy. Renee and Joan were the daughters of Bill and Mag; Ron and Maureen were son and daughter of Kate. Mary was a niece and lived in Seysell Strett. Bill, Ada Kate and Nell Margetts were brothers and sisters, all livng originally in 107 Stebondale Street; after the war, Kate and her family lived in a prefab on almost exactly the same spot. Maureen Hardy married Arthur Turner and lives in Kent; Joan Margetts is now Joan Dorkins and lives in Essex; Renee Margetts is now Renee Brown and lives in Haverhill; Mary Chamberlain is now Mary Smith and lives in Braintree. by M.
