Father Kingdon, ARP Warden and Priest in Charge at St. John's Church of England Church in Roserton Street. Also includes: Mrs Mary Anderson, Mrs Elizabeth Shillabeer, Florence Shillabeer, Mrs Barnes, Mrs White and Sheila White, in October 1940, when the Blitz had begun and many Islanders were moving out into the country. The photograph was published in the Island Church Magazine, with acknowledgements to ‘The News Chronicle' under the title ‘Are We Downhearted?' and Father Kingdon is quoted as saying; ‘They don't want to leave their homes'.
