Description:

Mr and Mrs Seal, Samuel (known as Sammy) and Ivy in Cranleigh, Surrey, where Ivy Seal and her daughter, Joan, were evacuated during the Second World War. Mr Seal came down for the weekend; he was still living on the Island, working at Hawkins & Tipson and as an Air Raid Warden. Mrs Seal was only in Cranleigh for a couple of months - an incendiary bomb fell next door and she got glass in her eye and so returned to London - ‘We might as well get bombed in London as here!' Donated by Mrs J. Jordan
