Charlie Martini and his wife, nurse and children. Charlie and his wife were both born in Millwall; she came out of Mellish Street and Charlie from No. 52 Alpha Road. After their marriage they lived on First Avenue Manor Park where this photograph was taken. Charlie left St. Luke's School at eleven, and rose to be Buying Manager for the firm that built Blackwall Tunnel. Unfortunately, he died at the early age of 32, as a result of catching pneumonia.
