How do I obtain a copy of an image?
Photographic copies can be obtained from Tower Hamlets Local Studies and Archives (there is a charge for this service) or a maximum of 5 digital copies can be emailed to you. If you would like to use the images for publication or display please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
According to the Evening News of the 8th or 9th September 1940, these people had been in the cellar of Dingle Lane School, near Poplar High Street, when it was hit by an aerial torpedo. On right, Mary Ashmore (Mahoney) who went to hospital with the baby; on left, Tom Ashmore, ARP warden stationed at Bow Town Hall, other woman, Annie Mullins (Mahoney) the children are: Molly Ashmore, Mary Ashmore and baby Maureen Ashmore.
