Digital Skills in the workplace: Using Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint - Intermediate Level 1

Course Title: Digital Skills for work: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook part 1 & 2 (Level 1 - ONLINE)

Brief course description:

Want to improve your Microsoft Office skills for work or study — from home? This online course helps you get confident using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Build essential digital skills for today’s job market with expert support in a live virtual classroom.

The course is delivered online in live weekly sessions, supported by self-study tasks and online resources. You will develop practical digital skills through work-related tasks such as formatting CVs, analysing data in Excel, preparing presentations, and organising work through email and calendars.

Part 1 - 13.5 hour course (over 9 classes)

Objectives:

  • Schedule and respond to calendar invites (propose a new time, add online meeting link) and share a file from cloud storage instead of attaching it, so I can coordinate remote meetings efficiently.
  • Send an email with the correct attachment, add a signature, and create a calendar event with a reminder, so I can share documents and organise meetings from home.
  • Create a presentation briefing with a readable theme, images and speaker notes and present it by screen-sharing in a live session, so I can explain an idea to a team online.

Part 2 - 13.5 hour course (over 9 classes)

  • Build a simple budget/expenses tracker with SUM, AVERAGE and percentages and add a column chart, so I can report spending to a manager or tutor.
  • Collaborate on a two-page document using track changes and comments, add headers/footers and page numbers, then export to PDF, so I can finalise a professional report with others.
  • Format a one-page CV or cover letter using styles, headings and bullets, then save as PDF and name the file clearly, so I can apply for jobs professionally.
